Catie is a Canadian born artist who now calls Sydney home. Her sculptural works in copper are designed to be appreciated in an out door setting. Her love of the natural environment and especially the native Australian landscape is refleted in her sculptures. She has developed a keeen interest in recycling and reusing differnt materails for her work. Before coming to Australia, Catie was involved in many different artistic endeavours. After graduating from the University of British Columbia, she studied at the Cordon Bleu Cooking School in London, England. After working in the food/catering business for a number of years Catie lived in Japan, where she studied "Noh Mask" carving (traditional wooden masks used in ancient theatre performances) and "Oshie" (an old art form of making pictures using kimono silk). After deciding to settle in Australia, Catie began exploring different mediums and found her passion in working with metal and mosaics, often combining the two for some very unique pieces. Her work is inspired by the beautiful and abundant wildlife and fauna found in and around Sydney. In addition to her metal and mosaics, Catie is also an accomplished woodworker.
